Share Your Experiences | Improving Healthcare for Adults with Autism and/or I/DD
People with Autism and I/DD experience a higher rate of mental and physical health conditions.
Yet, 70% of Healthcare Professionals report not having the training, confidence, and knowledge to meet their needs. Adults with A/I/DD experience challenges in communication and social interaction that make it more difficult for healthcare professionals to provide appropriate care.
First Place AZ, home to the Global Leadership Institute, has a lofty goal: Create a healthcare model where no one goes untreated or is medically misunderstood because of autism and/or other intellectual and developmental disabilities (A/I/DD).
To meet this goal, we are holding listening sessions to hear from:
- Adults with a diagnosis of A/I/DD, their families, and advocates.
- Healthcare professionals and other paid caregivers.
- Individuals and organizations involved in systems-level work.
The purpose of the listening sessions is to identify what is working and what needs to work better to improve the quality of healthcare.
If you have experienced successes or challenges in:
- Accessing healthcare
- Have ideas about how to improve the system
- Are aware of what is working or what needs to work better
Please join us to share your thoughts during our Phoenix listening session:
