Sierra VistAbility Day

Sierra Vista residents looking for services, information, and resources for people with disabilities can find a local one stop shop at the ninth Annual Sierra VistAbility Day on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Mall at Sierra Vista.
Hosted by the City’s Commission on Disability Issues and the Fort Huachuca Exceptional Family Member Program, this free event provides individuals with disabilities and their families an opportunity to find transition resources, support services, and product information. Vendors at the event include local government agencies, medical facilities, rehabilitation centers, support groups, and nonprofit organizations.
The event will include a free screening of the locally produced film “Learning to Drive” at 11 a.m., with additional screenings as time permits. The movie is inspired by the true story of a young man with Down syndrome who is determined to convince his scatterbrained brother to teach him how to drive. There will also be a health presentation by the Chiricahua Community Health Centers at 10 a.m.
Vista Transit will provide free curbside pickup service to and from the event for Sierra Vista residents with mobility issues. Reserve a ride at least 24 hours in advance by calling Vista Transit at (520) 417-4888.
