WEBINAR: Beyond Group Homes - Housing Options for People with DD

11/27/2017

WEBINAR: Beyond Group Homes: Housing Options for People with Developmental Disabilities

Join the webinar

When: Dec. 14 at 2:00 p.m.

Description: Join us for an informative webinar exploring different housing options for Arizonans with developmental disabilities. If group homes don’t appeal to you, what alternative choices exist for families? Find out from our panel of experts!

This webinar will feature one family's creative housing solution and introduce adult developmental homes, independent living arrangements and community apartments to families seeking housing beyond group homes.

More and more families are opting for more independent housing choices for loved ones with developmental disabilities. But what exactly does that look like in Arizona? How does someone begin to obtain it? What role can ABLE accounts play? Our panel will share their real-life stories, plus tips and tools for how to find what works best for your family.

This session will provide practical steps for individuals, families and professionals working with people with developmental disabilities.

Speakers:

  • Former Arc of Arizona director Ginger Pottenger helped her adult daughter Kandi set up her own townhome in Glendale. Learn how the family did it and what obstacles and opportunities they faced.
  • Council member Traci Gruenberger is dedicated to supporting people with developmental disabilities and ensuring every person has personalized services and supports. She serves as the Executive Director of Mosaic in Arizona, a disability support organization. Prior to Mosaic, she led the team at East Valley Adult Resources and worked at Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest.
  • Megan Akens and Ileen G. Herberg serve in the Housing, Engagement, Resource and Opportunity Unit (H.E.R.O.) at the Arizona Division of Developmental Disabilities.
