Special Education -Dispute Resolution

Text saying special education dispute resolution
Date/Time:
Thursday, August 12, 2021 - 10:00am to 7:00pm

What can parents do when they disagree with their child’s school about their child’s special education? In this training, we will discuss dispute resolution options available to parents of students with disabilities.

We will review informal dispute resolution methods, including facilitated IEP meetings and mediation, as well as formal complaint options, including state complaints with the Arizona Department of Education, complaints with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, and due process complaints.

We will go over when to use each dispute resolution method, what language to use in a complaint, and what to expect from the complaint process.
