Legal Guardianship is often chosen as the best way to provide care and support for adults with disabilities. While this may be an appropriate choice for many people, it is not always the only option available. Supported Decision-Making serves as a less restrictive alternative to guardianship. Unlike guardianship, Supported Decision Making allows people with disabilities to maintain their rights while receiving the support they need to make well informed decisions.
