A very common practice for the new year is for individuals to make New Year’s resolutions.  Some of the most common resolutions are to get in better shape physically or financially. This is true for individuals with disabilities, as well. 

The Council in 2024 will continue to work in its five Goal areas: Self-Determination, Meaningful Careers, Inclusion with Engagement, Safety, and System Access & Navigation. The Council’s funds will be used for some exciting things in 2024. Following is just a brief preview of things that will happen in the upcoming year:

The Arizona Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence (ACESDV) is proud to collaborate with the Arizona Developmental Disabilities Planning Council (ADDPC). This partnership is made possible through crucial funding that enables us to address sexual violence within Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) communities.

The onset of autumn signals change – the changing color of leaves in many parts of our beautiful state, the blessed change in temperatures from face-of-the-sun hot to more comfortable days and gorgeous nights, the change in our activities as we start preparing for the coming holidays…and so much more.

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month. The Southern Arizona Network for Down Syndrome (S.A.N.D.S.) cannot think of a better way to celebrate than to highlight a fantastic self-advocate and the S.A.N.D.S. 2023 Walk for Down Syndrome Grand Marshal, Chad McKinley.
